There are numerous clubs and leisure facilities either in the village or locally.

Badminton

This is played at the Village Hall. Play is available for beginners to better players.

For beginners or less formal sessions are held on Wednesdays 12-1pm and on Fridays 0800-0900. Contact Robert Hodgson on 01884-821239 or email [email protected].

For a more formal evening and those a little more experienced then come along on a Wednesday evening.

Alternatively, every week on a Monday evening 19:30-22:00, excluding August, the St Paul’s Badminton Club plays to league standard, and welcome new players. They also play on Wednesday mornings 09:45-11:45.

Beekeeping

Tiverton Beekeepers meet every 3rd Wednesday 19:30-21:00 Sept to April, excl. Dec.

From April-June, meetings are held at members’ apiaries (weather permitting), whilst July/Aug is spent setting up exhibits at the Mid Devon and Honiton shows.

Cricket

There is no official cricket team but for those that wish to practice during the summer they can hire the artificial wicket at the Village Hall by contacting Lynne Veen on 01884-906265.

Cycle Routes

Fancy cycling then there is the National Cycle route 12 which goes along the Canal at Sampford Peverell, via Holcombe Rogus and into Tiverton. You can always do it in stages.

For those of you that fancy something flat then the canal route is ideal, albeit you have to go up and down to get there and back.

Call in at the Tourist Office in Tiverton Museum(near the bus station) to pick up some ideas.

Extreme Keep Fit

Wednesdays 18:15-19:15 for high intensity interval training -circuit training for cardio and strength

Football Team

Uplowman Athletic Football Team play their matches at the Village Hall ground. They were formed in 1992 and currently play in the Devon & Exeter Football League Division 2.

Skittles Teams

There are two mens and two ladies teams that play at the Redwoods Inn. There is the Uplowman team and the Redwoods team.

They play in the Sampford Peverell Skittles League (divisions A and B), and visit several alleys.

If you fancy a social evening but with that competitive element, then contact the Redwoods Inn who will give you details of how to join.

There is also a popular summer league run at the Redwoods Inn.

Table Tennis

Tiverton TTC  meets on Thursday evening 19:00-22:00, all standards welcome with 3~4 tables available.

Tennis Club

The nearest tennis club, with two hardcourts, is at Sampford Peverell just off the main road and adjacent to the car park. Visitors can also use the courts for a small payment.

Interested then contact A Tindle on 01884-821700, and for coaching times Dan Sizer on 07951-828760.

However we now have our own tennis court at the Hall which anyone can use for free with no booking necessary.  Just bring your rackets and balls and enjoy.  Just look after the facilities and let the net down afterwards.

You will need to enter code 4242 to get in the court.

Walking

There are several walks in the area and vary depending upon the distance and time.

Many of the walks can be found at the local tourist office, or online, or just follow the numerous footpaths marked.

Yoga

There is a popular yoga session for mixed ability held on a Monday from 9:00 to 10:30  and Thursday 9:15 – 10:15 at the Village Hall.
